FRANKLIN COUNTY, IL — A Sesser teen is dead as the result of an accident yesterday.

According to a release from The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Peach Orchard Road and W. Center Road in rural Sesser Wednesday afternoon. Deputies determined a 14-year-old boy, identified in a release from the Sesser-Valier School district as Luke Thery, was driving an ATV and failed to stop at the intersection, driving into the side of a eastbound pickup truck.

Thery was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck was uninjured.

The crash is being investigated by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
