CLARKSBURG, IL — Authorities in Shelby County are continuing to investigate the disappearance, and now what they’re calling murder, of 72-year-old Sherry Hubbartt of Clarksburg. Illinois State Police had listed Hubbartt as missing as part of an endangered missing person advisory alert Sunday morning.

Arrests warrants were issued Monday by the ISP in connection with Hubbartt’s death. It was then reported, also on Monday. that the two suspects 25-year-old Clayton Anderson of Shelbyville and 19-year-old Thomas Miller of Decatur were already taken into custody by the Nevada Highway Patrol Sunday on unrelated traffic violations. Anderson’s warrant charges him with First-Degree Murder, Concealment of a Homicidal Death, and possession of a stolen vehicle all with sentencing enhancements since the victim was over 60 years of age. Miller’s warrant is for the offenses of Concealment of Homicidal Death and possession of a stolen vehicle with the same sentence enhancements as Anderson. Miller’s bond is set at $500,000.

Police say that Anderson was the grandson of Hubbartt and she had obtained an Order of Protection against Anderson in Shelby County Circuit Court last October. Anderson was wanted on a warrant for a previous unlawful possession of a stolen vehicle case. He is being held on a no-bond warrant.
