CENTRALIA — Centralia police are investigating a Monday night incident in which multiple shots were fired in the area of Maulding Drive.

According to police, around 11:35 p.m. Monday, they received several 9-1-1 calls about shots fired in the area of Maulding Drive.  Officers were already in the area when the calls came in and report they saw a subject running approximately one block south of Maulding Drive but lost sight of the person.

Officers then arrived on Maulding Drive and located a vehicle that had a fresh bullet hole in the tailgate and a window shot out.

Officers contacted the vehicle owner, and they advised the vehicle was parked and unoccupied at the time of the shooting.  Several shell casings were recovered from the scene.  It appears that no one was injured in this shooting.

Patrol officers were quickly able to develop some solid leads that are currently being followed up on.
