Bond was set at $150,000 Thursday morning for a 34-year-old Odin man charged in Marion County Court with multiple high-level drug charges.
According to Marion County Sheriff Kevin Cripps, his office received a report of a vehicle partially in the roadway of Soper Drive with the driver passed out behind the wheel.
Cripps says when deputies arrived; they found Kirk E. Johnston passed out behind the wheel of his car, with the vehicle still in drive and his foot on the brake. Cripps adds that when officers knocked on the window of the vehicle, Johnston reportedly took his foot off the brake and briefly rolled forward.
After running his name, deputies report they discovered his license is revoked. He was taken into custody and his vehicle was towed.
Cripps says a search of the vehicle revealed approximately 20 grams of suspected methamphetamine and 109 capsules of suspected fentanyl.
Johnston was subsequently charged Thursday morning with Class X felonies for delivery of between 15 and 100 grams of meth and possession with the intent to distribute between 15 and 100 grams of fentanyl, Class 1 felony possession of between 15 and 100 grams of meth, and Class 4 felony possession of a controlled substance.
Johnston remains in the Marion County Jail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for February 21, along with a first appearance with a court-appointed attorney.
