CLINTON COUNTY — A 67-year-old Carlyle man pleaded guilty Wednesday in Clinton County Court to the lesser of two charges accusing him of possessing child pornography.

Kampanart Sodsaikich was facing charges of Class X felony reproduction of child pornography involving a victim under the age of 13 and Class 2 felony possession of child pornography depicting a child under the age of 13.

Court records from Wednesday show Sodsaikich pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of Class 2 possession in exchange for the more serious Class X reproduction charge being dismissed.

The Class 2 felony charge is punishable by between three and seven years in prison and would require him to serve three years to life of parole following the completion of his prison sentence.

Sodsaikich was remanded into the custody of the Clinton County Jail to await sentencing on May 8. A Thai translator was requested for that May hearing date.
