JEFFERSON COUNTY — Bond has been set at $300,000 for a 34-year-old Mt. Vernon man arrested Thursday on child pornography charges.

Joshua Sandweg is facing multiple charges of Class X felony reproduction of child pornography depicting a victim under the age of 13, and Class 3 felony unauthorized taping of a victim under the age of 18.

Sadweg was originally arrested in March after a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a cyber tip of suspected child porn activity in the Jefferson County area.

Search warrants were issued for IP addresses and related social media information.

Deputies served a search warrant on March 20 at a home in the 500 block of South 26th Street in Mt. Vernon. They gathered evidence that was taken to the sheriff’s office for examination.

As a result, deputies arrested Sandweg who was the primary resident at the home. He was taken to the Jefferson County Jail but was later released as law enforcement continued to investigate the case.

Sheriff’s deputies then arrested Sandweg late Thursday morning and returned him to the Jefferson County Jail. It’s expected he’ll be arraigned on the charges sometime today.
