JEFFERSON COUNTY — A local telecommunicator has been recognized for her handling of a recent incident involving the exchange of gunfire between State Police and an out-of-state motorist on the interstate.
Telecommunicator Mallory Adams was working the desk at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office last month when Illinois State Police Dispatch requested assistance for a trooper who had been shot on Interstate 64.
Within seconds of receiving the information, Telecommunicator Adams dispatched Deputies and within a minute she had Fire/EMS dispatched.
Meanwhile, while working alone, she continued to gather information from ISP relaying it to Deputies and Fire/EMS while being on the phone with air medical providers attempting to get a helicopter to the scene.
Mallory was presented last week with a letter of commendation for her work on that incident.
