WILLIAMSON COUNTY — A man is recovering after he was saved from what was reported to be a possible drowning at Carterville beach Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office, the sheriff’s office along with along with the Carterville and Crainville police departments and John A. Logan Police responded to a report of a male drowning at the beach at 3:10 p.m.

Carterville Fire arrived and deployed their boat. The man was rescued and transferred to waiting EMS.

The man was transferred to an area hospital and is expected to recover. His name was not released.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office and US Fish and Wildlife are handling the investigation.
