MARION COUNTY — The Salem Fire Protection District is urging residents to not burn anything until the region receives some substantial rain.
According to the District, the ground is extremely dry, and with the changing seasons, leaves and other materials have fallen to the ground with a ton of super dry fuel. Add in some higher winds and all of these create perfect conditions for fire to spread.
Fire Depts have been running on an increasing number of grass/field/woods fires lately.
