SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois State Board of Elections is expected to rule on an objection Thursday to the statement of candidacy filed by State Representative Blaine Wilhour, a Louisville Republican.

Trevor Kious of Ramsey, who resides in the 110th District Wilhour represents, filed the complaint saying Wilhour’s nominating petitions lack language indicating, under oath, that he has filed a statement of economic interests.

Wilhour has said he believes the objection is a political move funded by the teachers’ union in an attempt to get him off the ballot.

Wilhour is being challenged in the primary by newcomer Matthew Hall of Vandalia, who is a 27-year veteran of the Illinois Department of Corrections and Fayette County Republican Chairman is challenging Wilhour who was first elected to office in 2019.
