JACKSON COUNTY — A 21-year-old Carbondale man has been arrested on charges of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon after Carbondale Police responded to the 900 block of East Park Street early Wednesday morning for a report of a battery in progress.

According to Carbondale Police, when officers arrived around 12:07 a.m., they found a victim with multiple stab wounds and began rendering aid. The victim was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale and was treated for serious injuries.

Officers learned the suspect, Cody W. Simon of Carbondale, allegedly stabbed the victim during a personal dispute and left the area before officers arrived.

Then just before 11:15 Thursday morning, detectives reportedly located Simon at a home in the 700 block of South Wall Street and arrested him without incident.

Carbondale Police continue to investigate.
