CENTRALIA — Centralia police arrested a 28-year-old Centralia man Friday on charges of criminal sexual assault.

Silvino Morales-Valencia allegedly assaulted a woman at a home on Cedar Street early Friday morning.

According to reports, the incident occurred while numerous other people were in the home and Valencia allegedly grabbed the woman by the face and touched her inappropriately.

He’s further accused of later grabbing her again by the face, but also covering her mouth, and dragging her to the garage by her hair before taking off her clothes and his clothes and sexually assaulting her.

Ultimately the woman managed to escape the garage and flee on foot without any clothing.  She was later taken to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

Valencia was still at the home when police arrived Friday morning and was taken into custody.

He was formally charged Monday in Marion County Court with two counts Class 1 felony aggravated criminal sexual assault.

Judge Stan Brandmeyer found Valencia poses a real and present threat to the safety of the woman he’s accused of assaulting and no condition of release could mitigate that threat. He ordered him held in the Marion County Jail pending trial.

A first appearance is scheduled for May 21.
