MARION COUNTY — An 18-year-old Centralia man is in the Marion County Jail after being arrested over the weekend in connection with the May 18th shooting of two people in Carbondale.
Kaemarius K. Parks was considered armed and dangerous. He was wanted on a Jackson County warrant charging him with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Aggravated Unlawful Use of Weapons when Centralia Police arrested him at a home in the 1000 block of Saddler Street.
Parks reportedly surrendered to police without further incident after initially retreating into the home when officers first came to the door.
He ultimately walked out of the home and was taken into custody. Police reportedly found a gun in the home that was reported as stolen from St. Louis. The weapon matches the description of the firearm used in the double shooting in Carbondale.
Carbondale police responded to a report of shots fired the early morning of May 18. Officers located two individuals with gunshot wounds. They were transported to the Memorial Hospital of Carbondale by the Jackson County Ambulance Service.
The investigation has revealed the shooting was a result of a dispute between known acquaintances.
Parks appeared in Marion County Court Tuesday on a state motion to revoke his probation on a 2024 conviction for felony damage to government property.
