MARION, Ill. — The Marion Fire Department is currently investigating an early Wednesday morning house fire that sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries and was later released.
Firefighters responded to the fire with entrapment at 2:13 a.m. in the 300 block of East Marion Street.
According to Marion Fire Chief Tim Barnett, as firefighters were on their way to the fire, they were told the victim was trapped on the second story of the home.
When firefighters arrived they found heavy fire conditions and immediately deployed ground ladders to the home and removed the victim from the second floor.
Firefighters continued battling the blaze and brought it under control within 45 minutes of their arrival. Crews were on scene for four hours.
Chief Barnett says no further information is available at this time.
