HERRIN – Herrin Police continue to investigate two shootings that happened Wednesday and believe they may be related.

Around 1:30 a.m., police responded to a home in the 600 block of South 12th Street for a shots fired call. Upon arrival officers made contact with the residents. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that the home was struck by a single round that entered the front of the home. All occupants of the home were not injured.

Then just after 11 a.m., police responded to the 700 block of West Tyler Street for a report of a house being shot. Upon arrival officers spoke to the resident of the house, along with witnesses to the shooting. It was determined at that time that a Grey Dodge Avenger was seen leaving the scene after having fired multiple rounds into the home. No occupants of the house were injured in the shooting.

Based off the description of the vehicle and eye witness testimony, a suspect vehicle was located at a home on West Oak Street in Herrin shortly after. As the officer began to initiate contact with the home where the car was located, several males and females fled to the north of the home on foot. Herrin officers as well as assisting Williamson County deputies began to set a perimeter in the suspected area of where the individuals fled. Several subjects have since been identified that are believed to be involved.

Police say further information will be released regarding the incidents at a later time.
