HERRIN – A Herrin man is in the Williamson County Jail charged with First-degree Murder in connection with a fatal shooting that happened at a home in the 3100 block of Weaver Road in Herrin Saturday.

According to Illinois State Police, 38-year-old Tyler Mezo was officially charged Sunday after ISP presented the case to the Williamson County State’s Attorney’s office.

On Saturday, Herrin Police requested ISP’s help in conducting a death investigation at the Weaver Road home. A woman was found dead there with multiple gunshot wounds. Mezo was identified as the shooter and was taken into custody. He is in jail awaiting his first court appearance.

ISP says no further information is available.
