Irene Faye Southerd, 87, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois passed away on August 5, 2024 at 9:20 AM at SSM Health Good Samaritan in Mt. Vernon, Illinois. Irene was born July 13, 1937 in Mt. Vernon to Dalmor Samuel and Mamie Marie (Minor) Hickey. She married Willard A. “Willie” Southerd on February 27, 1971 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2009.

Irene is survived by three Daughters, Sandy Clarke and husband Scott of Santa Fe, Tennessee, Karla Coleman and partner Rick Lee of Hoyleton, Illinois, and Cathy Southerd-Graham and husband Jeff of San Tan Valley, Arizona; 9 grandchildren, Travis Clarke of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Josh Clarke and wife Jamie of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Brittany Clarke and partner Charlie Thompson of Nolensville, Tennessee, Katie Coleman Skidmore and husband Tim of Waltonville, Illinois, Tom Coleman Jr and family of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, April Chartrand of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Ashley Boldrey of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, Cheyenne Southerd-Graham of Collinsville, Illinois, and Phoenix Southerd-Graham of San Tan Valley, Arizona; great-grandchildren Briley Clarke,  Summer Clarke, and Grafton Clarke of Mt. Vernon, Illinois,  Sawyer Clarke of Shiloh, Illinois, Mason Skidmore and Kolton Skidmore of Waltonville, Illinois, and Parker Thompson of Nolensville, Tennessee. Irene was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Irene loved to travel and was a Bookkeeper.

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, August 11, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Panther Fork Cemetery in Texico, Illinois with Reverend John Ashby officiating. Memorials may be made in Irene’s honor to Alzheimer’s Association.
