MARION – Mark your calendar now for Saturday, Sept. 7 as the annual Veterans on Parade will take place along Main Street in Marion. It will get underway at 10 a.m.

The event honors our veterans and first responders and is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

Ed Davis, president of the Veterans on Parade organization, looks back on how the event has grown.

Davis says one of the most important parts of this parade is the fact that it also honors our Gold Star mothers and their families along with their sons who have paid the ultimate price.

There will be two staging areas for the parade. Vehicles, floats, and trailers will need to go to Marion High School on South Carbon Street. Once you’ve registered, you need to be there no later than 9:15 a.m. Walkers and first responders will need to go to Marion Junior High School on West Main at 9:15 a.m.

If you would like to participate in this year’s parade, call Ed Davis at 314-375-7170, 618-967-9415 or email edward2791@att.net.
