FRANKLIN COUNTY – A 16-year-old juvenile driver and a passenger were injured and taken to a local hospital after being involved in a single-vehicle crash on Yellow Banks Road near Illinois 184 in Franklin County Wednesday night.

Chief Deputy Kevin Roye, with the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, says deputies responded to the scene just before 6:50 p.m. When they arrived, they found a utility pole that had been struck by a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup truck.

The juvenile driver swerved to miss an oncoming vehicle, lost control, and ran off the road striking the utility pole. The driver was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash.

As of Thursday morning, the sheriff’s office did not know the status of the driver and the passenger.
