MT. VERNON – The City of Mt. Vernon is warning residents about unauthorized solicitors in the area.

According to city regulations, all solicitors must possess a valid permit issued by the City of Mt. Vernon. They are required to adhere to the following rules:

• Possess a valid permit and must present the permit when asked.
• Solicitation is permitted only between the hours of 9 a.m. and 6 p.m.
• Solicitors must respect posted “No Soliciting” signs.
• They must promptly leave upon resident request.

If you encounter a solicitor without permit or who fails to comply with these regulations, please contact the Mt. Vernon Police Department at 618-242-2727. 

All permits will have a city seal, expiration date, and be signed.
