Anna Mae “Ann” Ruddick, of Pineville, North Carolina, formerly of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 1:08 am ET Friday, December 6, 2024 at The Laurel at the Villages in Pineville, North Carolina. Ann was born in Chaffee, Missouri to the late Archie and Lona Mae (Parmenter) Williams. Ann married Robert Wesley “Bobby” Ruddick on July 22, 1950 in Pickett, Arkansas. Bobby preceded Ann in death on January 27, 2020.
Ann is survived by her daughter, Dianna Sue (Todd) McDermet of Tega Cay, South Carolina; son, Robert William (Alison) Ruddick of Columbia, Tennessee; grandsons, Joshua (Amanda) Essman of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Matthew (Cassandra) Essman of Cedar Lake, Indiana, and Robert Aaron (Suzanne) Ruddick of Thompson Station, Tennessee; brother, Gary Dean Williams of Nashville, Tennessee; sisters, Nancy June White of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Mary Katherine (Jack) Gillis of Dexter, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Asher Essman, Trenton Essman, Alie Grace Ruddick, Henry Ruddick and Jarek Pierson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ann was preceded in death by her four brothers and one sister.
Ann was the owner and operator of The Bobbie Shop in Mount Vernon, Illinois. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Mount Vernon, a 50 year member of the Vernell Rebekah Lodge in Mount Vernon, and Noble Grand of 12 years.
A Visitation will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10:30 am to 11:00 am at the Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens Chapel in Woodlawn, Illinois. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 am with Mr. James McKinzie officiating. Entombment will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Ann’s honor to Shriner’s Hospitals for Children.
