Verle Leon Mulvaney Sr., of Kinmundy, passed away on January 16, 2025 at Salem Township Hospital at the age of 87, with his family by his side.

Verle was born on July 29, 1937 in Kinmundy, the son of Doyle and Stella (Ritter) Mulvaney.  He married his wife Sylvia Tilly on October 2, 1960.  She preceded him in death on October 31, 2003 after 43 years of marriage.

Verle graduated from high school at the age of 16 along with his older brother Merle.  After graduation he worked at Buckhart Sand and Gravel and a garage/ gas station in Edinburg.  He was drafted into the United States Army in 1957 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas prior to being sent to Germany where he spent 18 months as a mechanic.  When he returned home from the Army, he eventually purchased the garage/ gas station where he had previously worked.  He later sold it in 1964.  After moving to Kinmundy in 1974 he purchased the Mulvaney Grocery Store in Omega.  Verle also worked for Acco and Radiac, as well as being a farmer and carpenter in the area for many years.

Verle enjoyed old farm tractors as well as collecting toy tractors, trucks, cars, etc.  He spent his remaining years in his shop making toy trucks, tractors, and plows out of scrap metal, wood, and whatever he could find to complete his projects.  Through the years he spent a lot of time making woodcrafts with his wife Sylvia doing the painting on each item.

Verle was a very loving, kind, caring, and compassionate man and one who could tell a story.

He is survived by his son, Verle Mulvaney Jr. and wife Linda of Xenia; daughter, Kathy Branch and husband Terry of Kinmundy; brothers, Merle Mulvaney of Beaufort, South Carolina, Don Mulvaney and wife Janet of Opelika, Alabama, and a sister, Judy Prasun and husband Terry of Stonington, Illinois.
