Orville “Jim” Hess, age 77 of Louisville, formerly of Salem passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Helia Healthcare in Salem with his family by his side.

Jim was born on April 16, 1947 in Piedmont, Missouri the son of Orville “Boots” and Edna (DeWeese) Hess. He married Ruth Ann Beard on August 19, 1966 and she preceded him in death. He later married Janet McNeely and she survives.

In addition to his wife; he is survived by four sons, Kelly Hess of Salem, Kenneth Hess and Melinda of Centralia, Kerry Hess and Candy of Salem, and Kasey Hess of Salem; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and five sisters, Eddie Sebring, Glenna Voyles, Jackie Evans and Ray, Debbie Douthit and Larry, and Donna Struble and Randy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ruth Ann Hess; daughter-in-law, Alisha Hess; brothers-in-law, Gamon Sebring and Jack Voyles; and four great-grandchildren.

Jim worked many jobs over his lifetime, including work in the oil fields, carpentry work and as a truck driver. He enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, watching Western’s on TV, and was an avid acoustic guitar player. He was of the Baptist faith.

A Celebration of Life for Jim Hess will be held at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem with Shannon Bopp officiating. A time of visitation will be from 1:00 pm until the time of the service. Interment will be in Paradise Cemetery. Online condolences can be left at www.CrouseFH.com
