(SALEM, IL) — Bail has been set at $50,000 for a 26-year-old Sandoval man arrested over the weekend for alleged residential burglary. Andrew Sloat was charged in Marion County Court today with Class 1 felony burglary. He was arrested on an outstanding Jefferson County failure to appear warrant following a traffic crash in Salem Saturday for which he was cited. After being taken to the Marion County jail, Sloat was questioned by Sandoval police about a September burglary of a Sandoval home where a laptop computer and prescription medication were reportedly taken. Sloat allegedly entered the home while its resident was sleeping and then attempted to sell the computer to an area pawn shop, but ultimately sold it on Ebay. He is next due in court February 14, for a first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
