(East St. Louis, IL)  —  A judge is setting bail at ten-thousand-dollars for a former Metro East paramedic accused of stealing painkillers from ambulances, then covering up his theft.  Thirty-nine-year-old Jason Laut of O’Fallon has been indicted after the FBI, DEA and Sparta police allegedly found that 55-vials of Fentanyl were tampered with in ambulances Laut had driven for two companies.  Laut has been a paramedic, a supervisor and an ambulance dispatcher when he allegedly altered numerous reports and logs to falsely show that the drugs had been used.
