(MT. VERNON, IL) — A Mt. Vernon woman pleaded guilty after a meth lab was uncovered at residence in which a child was present. Twenty-three year old Savannah R. Penland had initially faced felony charges of unlawful participation in meth production and unlawful possession of meth manufacturing materials, but per plea agreement, those charges were dismissed in favor of pleading guilty to a lesser charge of endangering the life or health of a child. For this charge, she was sentenced to 18 months of conditional discharge. In the incident, Penland was arrested in August 2015, along with Kegan Graham at Graham’s residence in the 800 block of South 22nd Street where an investigation turned up an alleged meth lab.
