(Carbondale, IL)  —  While northern Illinois is dealing with too much rain, farmers in southern Illinois are dealing with not enough. The latest USDA Crop Report for Illinois, released yesterday, shows more than 80-percent of farmers in southwestern Illinois say their fields are short or very short of moisture. The report says northwestern Illinois received four-point-eight-six inches of rain last week, southwestern Illinois saw a little more than a quarter of an inch.
