NASHVILLE — The jury trial for a 22-year-old Okawville man charged with drug-induced homicide is scheduled to start Monday morning in Washington County Court.
Shane R. Lindsay is charged in connection with the death of 18-year-old Dakota Ellerbusch, who was found dead on New Year’s Day at a clubhouse in rural Washington County.
Lindsay was arrested in May and charged with Class X felony drug-induced homicide as well as Class 3 felony distribution of a non-narcotic substance, Class 4 obstruction and Class 4 concealment of a death. A Class 3 felony charge of involuntary manslaughter was added last week.
A defense motion last week to continue the case was denied and today’s jury trial setting was allowed to stand.
According to reports, Lindsay allegedly provided Ellerbush with fentanyl-laced heroin and obstructed justice by giving false information to a Washington County detective regarding the true circumstances surrounding the death of Ellerbusch. According to the sheriff’s office, they were assisted by the FBI in their investigation.
The concealment charge accuses Lindsay of “lying to and giving misdirection to John Ellerbusch as to the actual physical location of Dakota Ellerbusch,” for the purpose of “preventing or delaying the discovery of the death of Dakota Ellerbusch.”
Lindsay remains in the Washington County Jail with bail set at $150,000.
