Hunters and trappers harvested 318 bobcats during the latest hunting season.
This was the second season since bobcat hunting was reinstated in 2016 and another successful harvest says Illinois Department of Natural Resources Spokesperson Ed Cross.
Cross says 141 bobcats were taken during last year’s hunting season. The rules will change each year based on the state’s bobcat population.
Of the 318 bobcats harvested this year, 159 were taken by trap, 29 by archery, and 130 by a firearm. Permit holders salvaged another 40 road kill bobcats during the season.
