A 46-year-old Centralia man was airlifted to an Indiana hospital late Saturday night after he crashed his motorcycle on Route 161 at the southbound ramp for Interstate 57.

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, just before 10 p.m. Saturday, Gerald Hine was riding his motorcycle westbound on Route 161 when he struck the raised center median at the exit and entrance ramp. The impact threw him from his motorcycle that came to rest 300 feet west from where Hine was found.

He was reportedly unconscious when emergency personnel arrived on the scene. AirEvac transported Hine to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana for treatment of his injuries.

Kell firefighters and Marion County EMS responded to the crash, along with Marion County Sheriff’s deputies.
