BENTON — A Metropolis woman recently indicted in federal court on federal methamphetamine-related charges made her initial appearance Tuesday where she entered a plea of not guilty.
Court records show that an eight-count indictment returned on Aug. 7 charges 33-year-old Anna Rose Sullivan with intentionally distributing methamphetamine on seven separate occasions between 2017 and 2018, and with possessing with intent to distribute more than 5 grams of methamphetamine in June 2018. All of the crimes charged in the indictment are alleged to have occurred in Massac County.
If convicted, Sullivan faces between five and 40 years imprisonment, a fine of not more than $5 million and supervised release of not less than four years on seven of the eight counts. On the remaining count, Sullivan could receive up to 20 years in prison, a fine of not more than $1 million and at least three years of supervised release.
Sullivan’s trial is currently set for Oct. 22 in Benton.
The investigation in this case was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Metropolis Police Department, the Illinois State Police and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
