JOHNSTON CITY — The mayor of Johnston City has passed away.

According to a post on the Johnston City, Illinois Facebook page, 74-year-old Jim Mitchell lost his years long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis Tuesday.

Funeral arrangements have not been announced at this time.
