MT. VERNON — Three Mt. Vernon Police Officers were recently recognized by the city of O’Fallon and the city’s police department for their role in catching an accused killer.
Sergeant Brian Huff, Corporal Justin Haney, and Officer Troy Hails all assisted O’Fallon detectives in locating and interviewing people in the Mt. Vernon area in regards to the burning death of Sherry Billups in O’Fallon. Police have since arrested Andrew McKissick for first degree murder, aggravated arson, aggravated battery, and aggravated battery with a caustic substance.
Mt. Vernon Police Chief Trent Page says they are always ready to serve residents and other agencies.
O’Fallon Police Chief Eric Van Hook said in the recognition that “the success of the investigation and quick apprehension of the suspect is in no doubt due to the assistance provided by MVPD.”
