CENTRALIA — A 51-year-old Centralia man accused of pointing a gun at a Centralia police officer is due in Marion County court Tuesday afternoon for a preliminary hearing and first appearance with his court-appointed attorney.
Robert Manley is charged with Class X felony armed violence, and three Class 3 felonies – two for being a felon in possession of a firearm and one for possession of less than 5-grams of methamphetamine.
Manley was arrested earlier this month by Centralia police who were investigating a reckless driving complaint.
According to police, the incident occurred outside the east side Casey’s Store when Manley allegedly fled on foot.
During the brief foot chase, Manley reportedly dropped or tossed the gun. He was then tased by the officer and taken into custody without further incident.
Police report the gun Manley had pointed at the officer was loaded. A second firearm was allegedly found in his vehicle.
