WEST FRANKFORT — The West Frankfort City Council approved an intergovernmental agreement between the city and the Frankfort Community Unit School District 168 for the school resource officer at Tuesday’s meeting.

The school district ratified the agreement at Monday’s school board meeting. The agreement begins this fall and expires on the last day of school of the school year ending in 2022, expect for the time in the summer when school is not in session.

A regularly employed police officer will serve as SRO at Denning Elementary, Frankfort Intermediate, Central Junior High and Frankfort Community High School pursuant to a schedule to be determined by the police chief.

In other business, the council approved tax increment financing assistance agreements for Glodich Honda and West Frankfort Pediatric Group. It also approved the computer aided dispatch system for the police department at a cost of around $27,000.
