CARMI, IL — White County Sheriff Doug Maier says a man has been arrested in connection with a burglary from White County Coal Sunday and on June 24 of this year.
The sheriff says information led to the home of 40-year-old Danny L. Stephens at 651 County Road 1375 East in Carmi.
A vehicle parked at the home matched the vehicle used during the burglary. Several items matching what was taken during the burglary were still in the bed of the truck.
Stephens came to the door of the home and said the vehicle belonged to him. Stephens signed a consent form to search the home. Several glass smoking pipes with suspected methamphetamine were located inside the home along with nine cannabis plants under a grow light. The vehicle was towed from the home.
Stephens was placed under arrest and transported to the White County Jail. He is charged with two counts of burglary, possession of methamphetamine and possession of cannabis over 30 grams. The sheriff says bond will be set on a variety of charges.
