MARION COUNTY — A fourth juvenile has been arrested in connection with the brutal beating earlier this month of a 15-year-old boy on a Centralia street.
Centralia police arrested the 15-year-old Tuesday and he was transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center to await his first appearance Wednesday in Marion County court.
The three other juvenile males charged in the case are also being held in juvenile detention in Franklin County. All four are charged with two counts each of aggravated battery, as is 48-year-old Christopher James – the only adult charged at this time in connection with the beating.
James has also been charged with two felony counts of aggravated battery and his bail has been set at $250,000.
All five are accused of participating in the August 5 beating of the 15-year-old boy near the intersection of Kerr and Lincoln streets.
The victim remains hospitalized with permanent injuries. He’s unable to speak or feed himself and its unclear if he will ever be able to communicate to police what happened during the beating.
