MCLEANSBORO — A McLeansboro man is facing several charges after McLeansboro Police officers were sent to the Hamilton County Courthouse shortly before 2 Wednesday afternoon after getting a report about the man riding a four-wheeler on the courthouse lawn.

McLeansboro Police Chief Nathan Taylor says officers found the ATV without the rider near the intersection of Randolph and Jackson streets. Officers however received information that the rider, identified as 24-year-old Kendall P. Brown, had been picked up by a silver Chrysler car.

Hamilton County Sheriff’s deputies and McLeansboro Police officers were able locate the car at the intersection of Illinois 142 and County Road 850N. The vehicle came to a stop near the intersection and Brown fled from the car on foot. After a brief foot pursuit, Brown was subdued and taken into custody.

Brown was arrested for improper operation of an ATV on a roadway, careless operation of an ATV, reckless driving, resisting a peace officer and criminal damage to state supported property. He was taken to the White County Jail.
