CENTRALIA — Occupants of an eight-unit apartment building in Centralia will have to wait for the electrical wiring in the building to be repaired before they can return home following a fire over the weekend.

Centralia City firefighters responded around 11:30 a.m. Sunday morning to a report of a fire in the 700 block of South Sycamore.

The fire is believed to have been caused by faulty wiring and damaged the flooring and wall near a breaker panel.

One resident flipped a breaker in the panel, which apparently kept the fire from spreading. However, the whole building suffered smoke damage.

The building was a converted church.
