WILLIAMSON COUNTY — The Lake Egypt Fire Protection District and the Williamson County Fire Protection District will receive some of the $9.3 million in no interest or low interest loans Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s administration released Wednesday for the purchase of emergency vehicles.
According to a press release from the Governor’s office, Lake Egypt will get $350,000 and Williamson County will see $225,000. These two recipients are among 23 communities across the state receiving funds for new fire trucks. Eleven communities also received funds for ambulances, but no one in our area was awarded funding.
The loans are made available through the Fire Truck Revolving Loan Program and Ambulance Revolving Loan Program. They are made available to help departments or cities in purchasing emergency vehicles that they may not be able to otherwise afford. Loans for fire trucks must be repaid within 20 years and 10 years for ambulances.
