MARION COUNTY — No injuries were reported in a fire Sunday night that destroyed the home and all possessions of a family with five children and one on the way.

According to reports, the fire destroyed the mobile home of Michelle Ricketts and Deva Essington on Old U.S. 51.

Sandoval firefighters responded to the home just after 6 p.m. Sunday when the residents smelled smoke and discovered a fire in a bedroom. Everyone was able to escape the home without injury. However; the family lost everything they owned, including clothes and an infant carseat.

Red Cross has been called to assist the family.

Firefighters reported flames spread quickly under the home and that extreme cold resulted in water being used to battle the flames freezing on the ground at the scene.

The cause of the fire has not been determined and the State Fire Marshal’s office was called to assist in finding the cause.
