FRANKLIN COUNTY — A former Franklin County deputy charged with criminal sexual abuse and custodial misconduct will finally get his day in court.

A jury trial has been set for July 7 in Franklin County for Christopher Hampton. Hampton had a pretrial conference earlier this month and will be in court for a pre-trial hearing on March 18 at 1:30 p.m. and a final pre-trial hearing on June 25 at 9:30 a.m. That’s according to the Southern Illinoisan.

Hampton was charged in October 2017 for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman in January 2016 who had been arrested and was in his custody. It’s alleged the woman was legally intoxicated at the time. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office turned the case over to Illinois State Police after the allegations about Hampton came out.
