BENTON — The Benton City Council acted on an ordinance amending parking restrictions for the outer parking spots on the Benton Square at Monday night’s meeting.

According to City Clerk Brook Craig, an ordinance will be written designating the outer parking spots on the square as “public square patron parking.” There will be signs placed around the square stating this. This will be in effect weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Violators will be ticketed $75.

In addition there will be 15 minute parking for one spot in front of the Seasoning Bistro, one spot in front of The Buzz, and the spots in front of the auto parts store on East Main Street. This timed parking will be between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. weekdays.

Craig says the city council will approve the ordinance at its next meeting on Feb. 24, then the parking changes will go into effect sometime after that.
