HARRISBURG — The city of Harrisburg will be shutting down city hall to the public again amid the ongoing spike in COVID-19 cases in southern Illinois.

The announcement was made on Facebook Tuesday afternoon, and the shutdown is effective Wednesday.

Harrisburg mayor John McPeek says the case numbers recently have been troubling, and everyone needs to do their part to stop the spread of the virus.

If you need assistance from city hall, you are asked to call 253-7451 for the city clerk and 252-6344 for the water department. You can deposit your water bill in the drop box located off of Cherry Street.
