HAMILTON COUNTY — The Hamilton County board voted to transfer $50,000 towards the county’s new ambulance service Tuesday night at their monthly board meeting.

A special 1 percent sales tax increase was passed in the spring election. The money from this new tax will go towards funding a new ambulance service in the county.

County Board member Chad May is also the President of the board overseeing the creation of the new ambulance service. He says progress is being made on starting the service, but right now they have to wait for state licensing.

The vote was 4-0-1 to pass the transfer, with May abstaining from the vote.

May told the board the target date for the ambulance service’s launch is January 1st.
