MARION COUNTY – A 21-year-old Iuka man has been arrested for murder in connection with a fiery DUI crash in Salem earlier this month that claimed the life of a 66-year-old Salem woman.

Bond has been set at $1 million for Justin Bullard in connection with the death of Nita Mobley in a two-vehicle crash at Hotze and West Main in Salem that also sent Bullard and his 25-year-old passenger Austin Back of Iuka, to Salem Township Hospital where they were later airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash.

Bullard was initially charged with DUI alcohol in connection with the crash. But according to Marion County Jail logs, he was arrested Tuesday night on a Marion County warrant charging him with murder, street racing, aggravated DUI resulting in the death of another, and reckless homicide.

The case file is currently sealed until Bullard appears before a judge on the charges, but earlier reports indicated Mobley was attempting to turn left from West Main onto South Hotze Road when a pickup truck being driven eastbound on West Main by Bullard struck her car, which subsequently caught fire.
