UNION COUNTY — A 63-year-old Aviston woman has been identified as the person who fell to their death from Inspiration Point in far Southern Illinois over the weekend.

According to Union County Coroner Jon Shaffer, he pronounced Marcia Blaies dead at the scene after she apparently slipped and fell 200 to 300 feet from the top of the point Saturday afternoon.

Blaies was with her husband and their friends Saturday when they climbed to the top of the point. Around 1:30 p.m. she reportedly fell from the peak to the wooded area below.

The fall is not considered suspicious.
