MT. VERNON – An Opdyke man Tuesday entered a guilty plea in Jefferson County Court to charges of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child under 13 years of age and two counts of Production/Possession of Child Pornography victim under 13 years of age.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Judge Jerry Crisel accepted 28-year-old Anthony H. Powell’s negotiated plea and sentenced Powell to a total of 57 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.

The conviction and sentence were a result of a sheriff’s office investigation initiated on March 25 of this year.
