Phyllis Marie Williams, 89, of Mt. Vernon passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor in Mt. Vernon.

She was born in Golconda, IL on December 1, 1935 the daughter of Albert & Dorothy (Taylor) Kerr.

She married Virgil Eugene “Deanie” Williams on September 24, 1954 at the 2nd Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon. The ceremony was officiated by Rev. Carl Whittington. Deanie preceded her in death on October 5, 2024.

Phyllis retired as Secretary from Bankers Life & Casualty in Mt. Vernon. She and her husband Deanie owned & operated Deanie’s Flower Depot. She was an active member of East Salem Baptist Church.

12 Great-Grandchildren

Sister: Vernell Mulvaney of Florida

Sister-in-law: Cathy Kerr of Nevada

Brother-in-law: Carl Williams & wife Debbie of Ina

Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, a Great-Grandson 2 Brothers-Murrial Kerr & Albert Kerr, Jr.and a Brother-in-law-Herb Mulvaney.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 20th at the East Salem Baptist Church with Bro. David Shores officiating. Burial will be in the East Salem Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Monday at the church.
