Brett Young recently recorded two songs for Spotify Singles, an ongoing series that asks artists to record original tracks, as well as covers of songs that have inspired them from a wide range of genres.

In addition to recording his 2018 No. 1 hit, “Mercy,” Brett performed a cover of Gavin DeGraw’s “Not Over You,” which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Top 40 chart in 2011.

Young has been a huge fan of DeGraw, even befriending the singer-songwriter some years ago after seeing several of his shows. DeGraw reciprocated on Young’s 2018 album Ticket to L.A., co-writing and performing on the biographical song “Chapters.”
